At a glance Volvo XC40 is the most appealing car among all the four SUVs. The XC40 is offered in two dual tone paint themes red-black and white-black. You get sharp looking LED headlights with LED DRLs and standard 18-inch wheels on XC40.
The BMW X1 is the widest amongst all and based on old UKL platform which helped to shed 135kg then the earlier generation. The X1 also gets led DRLs and slightly updated front kidney grill.
After the facelift last year Audi Q3 received some cosmetic updates in bumpers. The Q3 also comes with panoramic sunroof, LED headlamps and LED DRLs, 17-inch wheels. We feel that Audi Q3 needs another update as the current one looks outdated.
Coming to the Mercedes- Benz GLA, the smallest of the lot seems like a mini GLC. The GLA also got some minor updates last year with sharper looking bumpers, LED headlamps, LED DRLs and restyled LED tail lamps with 18-inch wheels. But overall it feels like a premium hatchback.
When it comes to interiors the Swedish Volvo SC40 is a winner. You will find pleasing black upholstery with lava carpeting and door inserts. The dashboard comes fitted with sensus system and Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The XC40 also features Wireless phone charging, a Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic sunroof, and the virtual instrument cluster.
Having a longer wheelbase, BMW X1 is generous in terms of room inside the cabin. Again the quality of material is premium. BMW offers the X1 with Navigation Touch Functionality with iDrive Touch Controller, 2-zone Automatic air conditioning and cruise control with braking function. It also gets Apple Car Play but not the Andoid Auto.
The Audi Q3 ‘s cabin is simple but it doesn’t match up against the competition. Audi offers the Q3 with cloth headlining, aluminum door handle trim while the door sill trims also gets aluminum inlays.
And The Mercedes- Benz GLA, the moment you sit in the car you will a have feeling of a premium compact hatchback. You don’t find the dashboard very exciting except that three pointed star. And you will be surprised to know GLA doesn’t offer a touch screen multimedia system. But you get an integral telephone keypad, a Bluetooth interface with a hands-free function and an Aux-in and USB socket in the stowage compartment.
On the safety aspect all cars adheres to global safety standards. Here Volvo offers a bouquet full of radar assisted features which is an edge over its chief rivals. All the four cars have their strong points. The Audi Q3 and GLA are due for updates so we are left with two choices. If you want sheer driving pleasure just go for BMW X1 but if you want a complete family package in terms of comfort, features, performance, safety and luxury then Volvo’s baby SUV XC40 is just for you. Yahi hai right choice baby!!
