Rider Danilo Petrucci signed by team Ducati as a replacement for Jorge Lorenzo for 2019 season MotoGP.
On the 5th of June, 2018, just a couple of days after Lorenzo won the ItalianGP at Mugello circuit, Honda decided to drop Dani Pedrosa at the end of 2018 and signed Lorenzo to replace the rider since 13 seasons. With Lorenzo to announcing his departure from the team, Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali decided to pick Petrucci for the next season of MotoGP.
Petrucci has signed a two-year agreement to ride along Dovizoso as a team member. For team Aprilia at Pramac racing, Petrucci had a firm offer on the table, but that seat is now likely to go to Andrea Iannone, who has confirmed to be leaving team Suzuki at the end of this season.
Finally, Lorenzo has clarified that the relationship between him and Ducati is now over.
“I kept telling people inside the team to believe in me, to bring me what I asked for. They have done it, but too late,” Lorenzo said.
“I have the impression that Gigi [Technical boss], Paolo [Sporting director] and Davide [Team manager] wanted me to stay. But I do not hold a grudge.”
Also it is said that Lorenzo signed a deal with team Honda, even before Ducati made a final decision whether they will sustain him or not. Lorenzo has also been working on a potential option, Yamaha, in prospect of losing his current ride.
