The new AMT variant of its compact SUV, the Nexon has been launched by Indian car manufacturer TATA. The Tata Nixon is a direct rival for For EcoSport undercutting it by Rs. 34,540. The price for petrol variant is set at Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs. 10.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel one.
In looks the car gets projector headlamps, rear LED tail-lights, 16-inch alloy wheels and a contrast roof with an all new paint scheme. Earlier tata was offering the manual variant with five paint schemes – red, blue, silver, grey and white, but with this newer variant, Tata has introduced a new paint scheme called ‘Etna Orange’.
On the inside, it gets a three-tone dashboard, a multimedia system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen display, Android Auto and voice command compatibility, automatic climate control, among other features. And something that’s new is, the Nexon AMT also has an ‘Activity key’. The ‘Activity key’ is a wristband which you can use to unlock the door.
Nexon AMT is powered by the same 1.2-litre turbo engine for petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo engine-diesel as in the manual variant. The petrol motor churns out 108bhp and 170Nm of pulling power. Although the oil-burner makes the same amount of power but it has 90Nm of additional torque than the petrol variant. Three drive modes, eco, city and sport are given in the 6 gear AMT.
In terms of safety, the Nexon AMT is equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and park assist with a rear-view camera.
